2024 Fall Hackathon
It was both a pleasure and a true honor to play a part in launching and hosting the CDA Idaho Machine Learners fall 2024 hackathon, an event that brought together passionate individuals eager to innovate and collaborate, and I thoroughly enjoyed competing alongside such talented participants. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our event sponsors, Innovation Collective Coeur d’Alene and Selkirk Sport, whose support was invaluable in making this exciting event possible and enriching the experience for everyone involved.
The hackathon was hosted at Innovation collective coeur d’alene, Morgans Former employer and local startup scene area. For the event Morgan wanted to fix a problem he had when working on contracted projects, finding how everything works together when tossed into a new code repository. To solve this he game up with the idea of working on a VS Code extension like Canva’s whiteboard feature but for code files and then drawing arrows from the dependencies. To make this work the plan was going to require two people Morgan working on the canvas and design and Kylan working on the connections. Unfortunately as the day worked out only Morgan was able to work on the project. So from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm that was the focus.
At the end of the time we did end up with a working project to show off and put the file on github for others to work on, but we would like to launch it on the extension store at some point when we have more time! Otherwise check it out HERE. Below is an image of the canvas we were able to setup.
A big round of applause goes to the talented winners of the competition, Luke and Diamond, for creating an incredible text-to-speech reading app that truly enhances the reading experience. This innovative app not only highlights the words of a book as you read but also utilizes FLUX technology to generate a vivid image that corresponds with the text. This feature is especially fantastic for parents reading to their children, as it allows young readers to visualize the story, making the experience more engaging and interactive. What a wonderful way to bring stories to life!
